Face-to-face and distance learning courses are based upon the same teaching principles. There are some similarities and differences in the way these courses are delivered and formatted. Furthermore, there has been a drastic change in teaching amid these two formats. Teaching and learning is different in distance learning as compared to face-to-face environments because the learning environments are structured so differently. Distance education courses uses technology as a main method of delivery for course instruction. On the other hand, a traditional classroom environment uses mostly nontechnical forms of media to deliver course instruction. Distance education classes are designed for people who are learning at a distance. In a traditional classroom, people who live close by or locally attend face-to-face classes at a college or university. Face-to-face and distance education classes are constructed in such a way that it gives students the opportunity to develop their skills and acquire competencies that are pertinent to enhancing the learners’ experience. There is no significant difference between distance education and traditional college courses when it comes to learning. In reality, everyone can learn no matter how they choose to take their classes. It all depends on the needs of the learner. Some people excel by taking classes face-to-face; and others work full-time, have families, and other obligations. For those students who have such personal commitments, online learning may be a better option for them.
